100 jaar Koerdistan
“Het lot op je voorhoofd – 100 jaar Koerdistan” is een diepgaande en gelaagde roman die heden, verleden en verbeelding met elkaar verweeft. Het verhaal beslaat drie tijdlijnen en speelt zich af in drie landen: Nederland, België en Spanje. Tegelijkertijd keert de verteller steeds terug naar de familiegeschiedenis in Koerdistan, die zich uitstrekt over meer dan honderd jaar vol oorlogen, religieuze en culturele conflicten.
De roman is een mozaïek van persoonlijke herinneringen, historische gebeurtenissen en filosofische reflecties over identiteit, ballingschap, liefde, verlies en de vraag of het lot van een mens al op zijn voorhoofd geschreven staat.

Heavy themes are lightened and given perspective through a humorously sarcastic lens.
The narrator’s cultural background lends the story added depth and educational value. The interactions and conflicts between the characters, enriched by their unique family histories and cultural identities, make the narrative dynamic, thought-provoking, and full of “aha” moments. The exploration of loss—be it the loss of a pet, freedom, or ideals—offers readers existential and reflective layers to delve into.
